About Ethan

Ethan Furman (he/him) is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT). He holds a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles, with a specialization in Spiritual & Depth Psychology. Ethan also has a bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies from UCLA. Prior to working at Blackburn, he spent nearly two years as a therapist trainee at Beit T’Shuvah recovery center in Los Angeles.

Ethan grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and has lived in London and New York City, but has called Los Angeles home for the better part of the last three decades. Having gotten sober in 2017, he has an intimate knowledge of addiction treatment from all sides, and is well versed in the twelve step recovery community. In fact, Ethan credits getting sober as marking the beginning of the journey that has led him to working in mental health today.

Clinically, Ethan operates primarily from a psychodynamic approach, but pieces from various modalities to conceptualize client cases, including Narrative Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and Gestalt. Above all else, however, Ethan is dedicated to fostering a genuine, empathic and safe connection with each client, and creating a space in which healing and growth can thrive.
