THERAPY SERVICES

At Blackburn Clinical Services, we believe healing happens through connection: to yourself, to the people in your life and to your values. We offer individual therapy for adults and adolescents from our office at 12326 Venice Blvd in West Los Angeles.

Therapy is a safe place to look honestly at what is hard, understand where it comes from and build practical ways to cope. Every plan is tailored to one person, and the approaches we use are chosen to fit that person rather than the other way around.

What we help with

  • Anxiety. Tools for worry, panic and the avoidance that keeps anxiety going.
  • Depression. Support for low mood, low motivation and negative thinking.
  • Trauma. Trauma-informed care that moves at a pace that feels safe.
  • Substance use. Therapy that addresses substance use and mental health together.
  • Relationships. Help with communication, boundaries, family dynamics and conflict.

Our approaches

Our therapists draw on evidence-based methods, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Noticing and changing the thought patterns that drive emotions and behavior.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Skills for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness and relationships.
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Living by your values even when thoughts and feelings are difficult.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). A structured approach to processing traumatic memories.
  • Narrative Therapy. Separating who you are from the problems you face, and rewriting the story you tell about your life.
  • Psychoeducation. Clear information about what you are experiencing and why.
  • Trauma-informed practices throughout all of our work.

For adolescents

Teens face real pressure at school, at home and online. Our therapists work with adolescents individually and can involve families when that helps, so progress in session carries over into daily life. Learn more about our adolescent services.

Coordinated care

We work with clients, their families and outside providers so everyone is moving in the same direction. Therapy can be combined with psychiatry and medication management, family services, psychoeducation and neuropsychological testing.

For clients who need more than a weekly session but do not want a traditional intensive outpatient program, our Concierge Outpatient Program offers 3 to 5 hours a week of one-on-one care with a clinician, with no groups and no hour requirements.
