Business managers, talent managers and agents often see a client’s struggle before anyone else: missed calls, late arrivals, unusual spending, a hard time on set or on tour. Blackburn Clinical Services is a private outpatient therapy and psychiatry practice in West Los Angeles. This page explains how a representative can suggest care to a client, and what happens next. Call (888) 870 7405 or email info@blackburnclinical.com.

Signs a client may need support
- Missed meetings, fittings, call times or deadlines that are out of character
- Spending changes, unexplained cash withdrawals or new financial chaos
- Signs of intoxication at work, or reports from production or touring staff
- Panic or dread before auditions, press or performances
- A long low after a project wraps, or isolation between jobs
- Any talk of hopelessness or self-harm (if there is immediate danger, call 911; call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline)
How to raise it with a client
- Choose a private moment away from set, the office or the team.
- Name what you have seen, specifically and without judgment, and say you care about them as a person, not only the career.
- Make the next step small: share our number, or offer to sit with them while they call.
- Respect their decision. An adult client decides whether to start care. If a client is a minor, the conversation is with a parent or guardian.
What happens after a client calls
- We schedule an assessment and build a plan around the client’s goals and schedule.
- Therapy is one-on-one in our office or by secure video for clients located in California. For more support without a traditional program, the Concierge Outpatient Program offers 3 to 5 hours a week of one-on-one care with no groups and no hour requirements, scheduled around work.
- When substance use is involved, our psychiatrists treat it together with mental health. People who qualify medically may be able to withdraw safely at home through outpatient detox.
- If the client signs written permission, we can coordinate with the people they choose, such as a manager handling scheduling. Without it, we cannot confirm or share anything, including whether they are a client.
If your client is a child or teen performer, the parents may want support of their own: see therapy for parents of young performers. Crew members can see therapy for film, TV and live event crew.
Payment
We are an out-of-network practice. We do not take or bill insurance and provide superbills that clients can submit for out-of-network reimbursement. How a client pays, including through an account a business manager handles, is up to the client. See Fees and Insurance.

When a client’s teen or young adult needs structure and follow-through rather than clinical care, Blackburn Mentoring, a sister organization, has a page for business managers and agents.
Questions
Can a manager or agent make an appointment for a client?
A representative can help with logistics, but the client, or a parent for a minor, decides to start care and takes part in the assessment.
Will you tell me whether my client is attending?
Only if the client gives written permission. Without it, we cannot confirm or share anything.
Do you treat substance use?
Yes. Addiction psychiatry, dual diagnosis care, therapy and, for people who qualify medically, outpatient detox are available.
Is care private?
Therapy is one-on-one with no groups, and anything shared outside the care team happens only with the client’s written permission.
