Starting by video, or getting here from Santa Clarita

By video: this is the natural fit for the Santa Clarita Valley. Many residents already spend hours a week on the I-5 or the 14, and a session from home, a parked car at the office or a quiet room on a remote day adds no more driving. A parent can join a family session from work while a teen logs in from home after school.

By car: the usual route is the I-5 south to the I-405 south through the Valley and the Sepulveda Pass, then west on Venice Blvd. Expect heavy traffic on both freeways at commute hours, and try the trip once before booking regular in-person visits.

By train and bus: Metrolink Antelope Valley Line trains stop in the Santa Clarita Valley on the way to Union Station, and Metro Line 33 runs from Union Station along Venice Blvd. It is a long trip; check schedules with Metrolink and Metro first.

Santa Clarita Valley: local context and resources

With 228,673 residents at the 2020 Census, the City of Santa Clarita is the third largest city in Los Angeles County, after Los Angeles and Long Beach (U.S. Census Bureau, via LA Almanac). Valencia is one of the communities inside the city, alongside Saugus, Newhall and Canyon Country. For county mental health services the valley is part of Department of Mental Health Service Area 2, the San Fernando Valley area (LA County DMH; LA Almanac), so county programs for Santa Clarita are organized through the Valley. The county’s get help page and 211 list free and low-cost options.

Much of the city is built around master-planned neighborhoods, paseos and parks, and family life is central to the city’s identity. Plenty of working adults still commute to jobs in the Valley or the LA basin, and long drives can squeeze out sleep, exercise and family time. Those pressures show up in therapy as anxiety, burnout, short tempers at home and relationship strain. Teens and young adults raised here may feel pulled between staying close to home and leaving for school or work, and some families notice substance use alongside mood changes; our dual diagnosis treatment page explains how we approach that.

Who we help in Santa Clarita and Valencia

  • Commuting adults with burnout, depression or anxiety who need sessions that do not add a drive.
  • Parents of teens through parent-only sessions, family sessions and individual teen therapy.
  • Young adults deciding what comes next, including those who want ADHD support or career coaching for follow-through.
  • College students at a local campus or home on break. When clinically appropriate we write leave of absence and return letters; see therapy for college students.
  • Families working with a trustee. With your written permission, we can report attendance and general progress to the trustee.

In the office or by video: which fits you

For Santa Clarita and Valencia residents, video is the everyday option: weekly sessions without the I-5, and family sessions that pull in a parent from work. The Mar Vista office is for Brainspotting, which is in person only, and for people who want the room or are already down the hill for work. Career coaching is offered either way.

Questions from Santa Clarita and Valencia residents

Do you have an office in Santa Clarita or Valencia?

No. Our only office is at 12326 Venice Blvd in Mar Vista, about 29 miles from central Santa Clarita in a straight line. Most Santa Clarita Valley clients see us by secure video.

I commute from Santa Clarita. Can I fit sessions around that?

Often, yes. Sessions run Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, and video means you can meet from a private space at work or at home on a remote day instead of driving to us.

Can I take the train to your office?

You can. Metrolink Antelope Valley Line trains run from the Santa Clarita Valley to Union Station, and Metro Line 33 continues along Venice Blvd. It is a long trip, so most people use it only for occasional office visits.

Can you see a teen from Valencia or Saugus?

Yes. Teens located in California can meet with us by secure video, with family and parent-only sessions by video or at our Mar Vista office, and either parent can consent. Our online teen therapy for Santa Clarita Valley families page explains how it works.

Is career coaching available for Santa Clarita residents?

Yes. Career coaching is available by video or at our Mar Vista office and can be combined with therapy or used on its own.
