Blackburn Clinical Services offers therapy by secure video for teens ages 13 to 17 in Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, Calabasas and the rest of the Conejo Valley, with family and parent-only sessions by video so parents are part of the work. Our office is in Mar Vista, West Los Angeles, about 15 miles from Calabasas and about 23 to 25 miles from Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks in a straight line. Most Conejo Valley families see us by video, Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.

The 101 and the 405 versus a video link
From the Conejo Valley, our office means the US-101 east through Calabasas and the San Fernando Valley, then the I-405 over the Sepulveda Pass, both often slow on a weekday. Malibu Canyon and the coast are scenic but not faster. Calabasas is closer, and in-office visits may be workable from there, but for most families west of the county line, video is what makes a weekly session realistic. Your teen can join from home after school inside our weekday hours.
Fitting therapy around the school calendar
Conejo Valley Unified and Las Virgenes Unified set their own calendars, and private, independent and Catholic high schools in the area often follow different ones, with their own breaks and finals weeks. Many teens also commute to schools in the San Fernando Valley or on the Westside, which makes the school day longer. A fixed weekly video time is easier to protect through finals, AP exams in May (College Board) and busy sports seasons.
What we hear from parents of high schoolers here
Parents in the Conejo Valley often describe teens carrying a full college prep load along with competitive sports, riding or the arts, and the pressure that comes with a close-knit community where everyone knows each other. Wildfire seasons and evacuations have also touched many families in this area, and some teens carry worry or trauma from those experiences long after. See teen trauma therapy and therapy for high-achieving teens.
What video therapy looks like at Blackburn
Your teen joins a one-on-one session from a private room on a phone, tablet or computer. Approaches such as CBT, ACT and DBT skills are chosen for your teen; EMDR and Brainspotting are offered in our office, not by video. Family sessions and parent-only sessions happen by video too, so both parents can join from work or home. Use headphones, a closed door and a personal device rather than a school-issued laptop. Our online teen therapy guide covers privacy at home and when in-office care is the better choice.
What parents can do now
- Notice patterns, not single bad days: sleep, appetite, friendships, grades or activities that change for more than a couple of weeks.
- Watch for delayed stress around fire season: trouble sleeping on windy nights, avoiding talk about the fire, or anxiety when smoke shows up on the horizon.
- Call us to talk through what you are seeing and whether video is a good fit for your teen.
When to get urgent help
Video therapy is not an emergency service. If your teen talks about suicide, has hurt themselves or you fear for their safety, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or call 911. In Los Angeles County, including Westlake Village and Calabasas, the Department of Mental Health 24/7 help line is 1-800-854-7771 (LA County DMH). In Ventura County, 988 connects you with local crisis support.

Questions parents ask
Do you have an office in Thousand Oaks or Calabasas?
No. Our only office is at 12326 Venice Blvd in Mar Vista, West Los Angeles. Most Conejo Valley families see us by secure video; from Calabasas, in-office visits may also be workable.
We live in Ventura County. Can my teen still see you by video?
Yes. We offer video therapy to families in California, including Thousand Oaks and the rest of Ventura County.
My teen still gets anxious during fire season. Do you treat that?
Yes. Anxiety and trauma after frightening events are common reasons teens come to us. Approaches such as CBT may be used by video, chosen for your teen, with family sessions for parents by video too. EMDR is available in our office.
How are parents involved?
Family sessions and parent-only sessions can be by secure video, and each parent can join from a different place in California, including from work. Parents can also have therapy of their own by video.
Is psychiatry available?
Psychiatric care can be arranged if your teen needs it. We explain how when you call.
