  • Psychiatric care: psychiatric care and medication management can be arranged in coordination with your therapist.
  • Teens and families: individual teen sessions, family sessions and parent-only sessions. Either parent can consent for a teen, and seniors who are already 18 can be seen. Calabasas parents can start with online teen therapy for Conejo Valley families, which covers the cities along the 101.
  • Career coaching: strengths-based, values-driven coaching for young adults, people in recovery and anyone who feels stuck. Career coaching is available by video or at our Mar Vista office and can be paired with therapy.
  • Concierge Outpatient Program: individualized one-on-one care as an alternative to IOP, with no groups, typically 3 to 5 hours a week. Teens typically stay in school, with sessions during weekday hours; some Saturday therapy appointments are available.

Starting by video, or getting here from Calabasas

By video: most Calabasas clients meet us this way. You log in from a private room at home or work, so the session fits around school runs, practices and a 101 commute instead of adding to them. Families sometimes have a parent join from an office while the teen stays home.

By car: the common route is the US-101 east to the I-405 south through the Sepulveda Pass, then west on Venice Blvd. Some drivers instead cross the mountains to Pacific Coast Highway and come down the coast. Traffic through the pass is hard to predict, so test the trip at your appointment hour before committing to weekly visits.

By transit: there is no simple transit line from Calabasas to Mar Vista. If you want to try it, plan with Metro’s maps and schedules.

Calabasas: local context and resources

Calabasas had 23,241 residents at the 2020 Census (U.S. Census Bureau, via LA Almanac). Although it sits at the western end of the Santa Monica Mountains, the county places it in Department of Mental Health Service Area 2, the San Fernando Valley area, along with Agoura Hills, Westlake Village and Santa Clarita (LA County DMH; LA Almanac). Free and low-cost county programs for Calabasas are therefore organized through the Valley, and 211 LA County can point you to the nearest ones.

Calabasas is a family-centered city, and that shapes what many people bring to therapy. Teens can feel steady academic and social pressure, and young adults returning home after college sometimes feel they are behind peers who seem to have it figured out. Adults often carry long commutes and full calendars. Therapy here tends to focus on anxiety, perfectionism, ADHD and follow-through, and the strain a busy household puts on relationships.

Who we help in Calabasas

  • Teens and their parents dealing with school stress, mood changes or conflict at home, through teen, family or parent-only sessions.
  • Young adults and college students home in Calabasas. When clinically appropriate we provide letters for a leave of absence or a return. See therapy for college students.
  • Adults with depression, anxiety or burnout who want consistent care that does not depend on the 405.
  • People whose substance use and mental health overlap. See dual diagnosis treatment.
  • Families with a trustee involved. With written permission we share attendance and general progress with the trustee.

In the office or by video: which fits you

Video tends to suit Calabasas residents who want a steady weekly hour without crossing the Sepulveda Pass, and parents who need to join from work. The office makes sense for Brainspotting, which is offered in person only, and for anyone who already spends time on the Westside. Career coaching runs by video or in the office. You can switch between formats as life changes.
