Services for Encino residents

  • Individual therapy: one-on-one sessions using approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT and EMDR, chosen with you. Brainspotting is an office only service, a short trip over the pass for Encino clients.
  • Psychiatric care: psychiatric care and medication management can be arranged, working with your therapist rather than separately.
  • Teens and families: teen therapy plus family and parent-only sessions. Either parent can consent, and a high school senior who is 18 can be seen. Encino parents can begin with our San Fernando Valley teen therapy page.
  • Career coaching: for young adults finding direction, people in recovery rebuilding routines, and anyone feeling stuck. Coaching sessions happen by video or in person in Mar Vista.
  • Concierge Outpatient Program: a private, one-on-one alternative to IOP with no groups, typically 3 to 5 hours each week. Teens usually stay enrolled in school with sessions during weekday hours, and some Saturday therapy appointments are available.

Getting here from Encino, or starting by video

By car: Encino is close to where US-101 meets the I-405, so most people simply head south on the I-405 through the Sepulveda Pass and exit toward Venice Blvd. Mileage is approximate. The pass gets crowded at commute times, which is why many Encino clients choose late morning or early afternoon appointments.

By transit: Metro buses cross the pass, but the trip includes transfers; plan it with Metro’s maps and trip planner. Metro Line 33 runs on Venice Blvd near the office.

By video: secure video sessions work from home or a private office anywhere in California, and you can mix them with visits to Mar Vista.

Encino: local context and resources

Encino is part of the City of Los Angeles rather than its own city. County mental health services group it in Department of Mental Health Service Area 2, the San Fernando Valley (LA County DMH), and the county Public Health department lists it in the same San Fernando Valley planning area (LA County Public Health). The DMH Service Area 2 page links resources Encino families may find useful, including a school-based collaborative and a Fathers Support Champions program for dads.

Much of Encino is established residential streets south of Ventura Blvd, where many families are raising school-age children. That shapes what people bring to therapy here: parents worried about a teen’s mood, grades or phone use, couples stretched thin by work and carpools, and young adults who came home after college and are not sure what is next. We often work with the whole family system, using parent-only sessions when a teen is not ready to come in.

Who we help in Encino

In the office or by video: which fits you

Encino is one of the easier Valley trips to Mar Vista, so in-person therapy is a real option, and it is the only way to do Brainspotting. Video makes sense for parents joining from work, for teens with a packed after-school schedule, and for weeks when the 405 is jammed. Career coaching works by video or in the office.

Questions from Encino residents

Do you have an office in Encino?

No. We have one office, at 12326 Venice Blvd in Mar Vista, about 11 miles from central Encino in a straight line. Encino clients come in person or meet by secure video.

What is the best way to get from Encino to your office?

Most Encino clients take the I-405 south through the Sepulveda Pass and exit toward Venice Blvd. An appointment outside rush hour usually makes the trip easier.

My teenager will not talk to us. Can we start with parent sessions?

Yes. Parent-only sessions are a common starting point, and either parent can consent for a teen. When the teen is ready, we can add individual and family sessions, in the office or by video.

Can I get medication management as an Encino resident?

Yes. For Encino clients, psychiatric care and medication management can be arranged so the prescriber and your therapist share one plan. We go through the steps by phone.

Can my adult child do career coaching?

Yes, if they are a young adult looking for direction with school, work or independence. Career coaching is available by video or at our Mar Vista office, alone or with therapy.
