Getting here from Toluca Lake, or starting by video
By car: from Toluca Lake most people take US-101 or the SR-134 west to the I-405, then go south through the Sepulveda Pass toward Venice Blvd. Others take US-101 through Cahuenga Pass and work their way west across the city. Mileage is approximate, and both routes are slow at rush hour, so pick a session time with that in mind.
By transit: the Metro B Line runs from North Hollywood through the Universal City area to downtown Los Angeles, and from downtown you can connect west toward Culver City and Venice Blvd. It is a long trip; check Metro first.
By video: for many Toluca Lake residents, a session from home between studio days is easier than any drive, and you can switch formats week to week.
Toluca Lake: local context and resources
Toluca Lake is a small City of Los Angeles neighborhood next to Burbank, close to several major studios, with quiet residential streets. Los Angeles County groups it with the rest of the San Fernando Valley in Service Planning Area 2 (LA Almanac, citing LA County Public Health), the same region the Department of Mental Health calls Service Area 2 (LA County DMH). DMH points residents to Service Area 2 resources there, including a peer resource center and a community resource directory.
Many Toluca Lake households have someone in the entertainment business: actors, writers, executives, crew, and parents managing a child’s career. That world brings its own stress: work that arrives all at once and then stops, public scrutiny, and late nights that can let drinking creep up. Families here often want a therapist who understands those rhythms, and discretion matters. For parents of child performers, see therapy for parents of young performers; for managers and agents, see our page for entertainment business managers.
Who we help in Toluca Lake
- Entertainment professionals with anxiety, depression or burnout; see therapy for entertainment industry professionals.
- People whose drinking or substance use worries them; see dual diagnosis treatment.
- Parents and teens, including families with a young performer, through teen, family and parent-only sessions.
- College students home in Toluca Lake. When clinically appropriate we can write leave of absence or return letters; see therapy for college students.
- Families where a trust is involved: with written permission, we share attendance and general progress with the trustee.
In the office or by video: which fits you
Toluca Lake is close enough for regular office visits, and the office is the only place to do Brainspotting. Video works well when a production schedule is unpredictable or a parent needs to join from the lot. Career coaching runs in either format.
