What does Blackburn offer Fresno clients?

  • Mostly video: we do not have an office in Fresno; care is by secure video. Our Los Angeles office is about 204 miles from downtown Fresno in a straight line, the closest of any city on our Northern and Central California list.
  • Therapy: individual sessions with approaches such as CBT, DBT and ACT.
  • Concierge Outpatient Program: typically 3 to 5 hours a week, one-on-one, no groups. Online: therapy, psychoeducation, coaching and case management.
  • Psychiatric care can be arranged.
  • Office services: Brainspotting is offered only in Los Angeles. A few Fresno clients combine a trip south with an in-office session.

What is daily life like for people who call us from Fresno?

Fresno had about 560,948 residents on January 1, 2026, and Fresno County about 1,041,676, according to the California Department of Finance. It is the biggest city in the San Joaquin Valley and the hub for farm towns in every direction, so many of our clients drive Highway 99 or 41 every day.

The economy is agriculture, healthcare, logistics, education and government. That means harvest-season hours for growers, packers and the businesses around them; night and weekend shifts for nurses and warehouse workers; and teachers stretched across large classrooms. Family is central for many people here, often across several generations and more than one language and culture, which can be a strength and a source of pressure at the same time.

The valley’s climate matters too. Summers are long and very hot, and fall smoke from mountain fires settles into the valley, so many people spend weeks indoors twice a year. Isolation, low mood and restless sleep tend to follow. Distance is the other issue: specialty mental health care can be scarce outside the city, and a private one-on-one program may simply not exist within a reasonable drive. That is the gap video fills.

Where does Fresno County’s public access line fit?

The Fresno County Department of Behavioral Health lists 1-800-654-3937 for access to services or the crisis line (Fresno County Behavioral Health). County services and private therapy can run side by side; we see people who pay privately and want individual attention on a predictable schedule.

What about Fresno State students?

Fresno State runs on a semester calendar, with midterms in October and March and finals in December and May. Many students commute from smaller towns and work while studying, and some are the first in their family at college. Video sessions work for students located in California, and we offer leave of absence and return evaluations when clinically appropriate.

When are sessions, and how is care paid for?

Our hours are weekdays, 9 AM to 5 PM; some Saturday therapy openings exist too. Fresno is on Pacific time like us, so no time zone math. Be in California for each session. Blackburn is private pay; we never bill insurance, and superbills for reimbursable services allow out-of-network claims.
