Starting by video, or getting here from Arcadia

By video: most Arcadia clients start by video. You join from a quiet room at home or work on a phone, tablet or computer, anywhere in California, which makes weekly therapy realistic from the eastern side of the San Gabriel Valley.

By car: the usual route from Arcadia is the I-210 west to the SR-134, or the I-10 west across the valley and through downtown Los Angeles to the Westside. Either way you cross the whole basin, so try the drive once at the time you would come.

By transit: the Metro A Line serves Arcadia and runs into downtown Los Angeles, where the E Line heads west and Metro Line 33 runs along Venice Blvd. It is a long trip; plan it with Metro maps and schedules.

Arcadia and the San Gabriel Valley: local context and resources

Arcadia is a foothill city of 56,681 residents at the 2020 Census (U.S. Census Bureau, via LA Almanac), with neighborhoods that run up toward the San Gabriel Mountains. The county Department of Mental Health places Arcadia in Service Area 3, the San Gabriel Valley, with neighbors such as Monrovia, Pasadena and Temple City (LA County DMH).

Many Arcadia families put a high value on education, and that is a real strength. For some teens it also comes with heavy course loads, short nights, comparison with peers and worry about college, and for some parents it brings hard conversations about how much pressure is too much. For free or low-cost options, Arcadia residents can call the county’s 24/7 Help Line at (800) 854-7771 or 211 LA County (LA County DMH).

Who we help in Arcadia

In the office or by video: which fits you

Video usually fits Arcadia residents, since it turns a cross-county trip into a session from home, and lets a parent join a family session from work. The Mar Vista office fits people who want Brainspotting, which we offer in the office only, and people who prefer the room, perhaps for an occasional visit. Career coaching works either way. You can combine both formats.
