Getting here from Mid City, or starting by video
By car: Mid City is one of the simplest trips to our office. Venice Blvd runs west from Mid City straight to our block in Mar Vista, and Washington Blvd or the I-10 (Santa Monica Fwy) west are alternatives when Venice is slow.
By transit: Metro Line 33 runs along Venice Blvd through Mid City to Mar Vista, which makes a one-bus trip possible for many Mid City residents. The E Line also runs along Exposition Blvd to the south. Check Metro’s maps and schedules for stops and times.
By video: on weeks when a bus or drive does not fit, Mid City clients can switch to secure video from home, as long as they are in California.
Mid City: local context and resources
Mid City is a centrally located City of Los Angeles area south of Wilshire Blvd, with single-family streets, apartment blocks and the museums of the Miracle Mile a short way north. There is no Census population figure for Mid City. For county mental health services, Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health lists both Mid-City and the Miracle Mile in Service Area 4 (LA County DMH), and the county Department of Public Health groups Mid-City Wilshire in SPA 4, Metropolitan Los Angeles (LA County Public Health).
Mid City is a diverse area, and some households here include several generations under one roof. What people bring to therapy often reflects that: caring for parents and children at the same time, a teen balancing school with family responsibilities, a young adult working and studying, or tension between partners when space and money are tight. Free or low-cost county clinics are an option alongside private therapy; the county 24/7 Help Line can point you to them.
Who we help in Mid City
- Parents and caregivers through parent-only sessions and family sessions; see family services.
- Couples under strain; see relationship counseling.
- Teens with anxiety or low mood; see the Mid-Wilshire teen page.
- Young adults and college students living at home in Mid City. When clinically appropriate, we provide leave of absence and return letters. See therapy for college students.
- Families working with a trustee. With written permission, we can share attendance and general progress.
In the office or by video: which fits you
Mid City is close, and the office is a straight line down Venice Blvd, so many people come in person and some take Line 33. The office is also the only place we offer Brainspotting. Video fits a parent joining from work, a caregiver who cannot leave home, or a week when the trip does not work. Career coaching works either way.
