Executive Outpatient Treatment in California: One-on-One, by Video

Blackburn Clinical Services provides executive outpatient care through its Concierge Outpatient Program, delivered one-on-one by secure video for clients located in California. There are no groups, sessions are scheduled around your work, and most clients spend 3 to 5 hours a week in care. Our only office is in Los Angeles. Psychiatric care can be arranged. Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. Ask about one-on-one executive outpatient care by video.

What does executive outpatient treatment mean at Blackburn?

For us it is not a separate track with a premium label. It is the same individualized care every client receives through the Concierge Outpatient Program, shaped around the realities of running a company or a large team: a calendar that changes daily, decisions that cannot wait for a program day, and a strong preference for working with one clinician rather than a room of strangers.

Care starts with a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment. From there your care team builds a customized plan, and services increase or decrease based on clinical need rather than a predetermined level of care. We treat both addiction and primary mental health concerns, including substance use, anxiety and depression, trauma and PTSD, and relationship and life challenges.

Why one-on-one instead of an executive group program?

Many executive programs are cohort groups, sometimes organized by profession. That can offer real peer support. It also means scheduled group hours several days a week and sharing personal history with people who may move in the same circles. Our program has no groups at all. Every session is with a member of your care team, or with family members you choose to bring in.

One-on-one care also lets the work follow the problem. An executive whose drinking rose during an acquisition needs different sessions from one whose anxiety spikes before board meetings, and neither should wait for a curriculum to reach their topic.

What should you ask any executive outpatient program?

Use this checklist when comparing options, including ours.

  • Format: are sessions individual, group, or a mix? How many group hours are required each week?
  • Schedule: who sets session times, you or the program? What happens in a week when work takes over?
  • Location rules: where must you be during video sessions? (For us, located in California.)
  • What is virtual and what is not: which services happen by video, and which require an office visit?
  • Psychiatric care: is it part of the program, and how is it arranged?
  • Who gets information: who can the program share updates with, and what permission is required?
  • Payment: is the program billed to insurance, private pay, or both? Are superbills provided?
  • Step-down: what happens when you need less care? Can you keep the same clinician?
  • Higher levels of care: how will the program tell you if you need more than outpatient care?

What do executives work on with us?

  • Drinking or drug use that has moved from social to routine. See dual diagnosis care.
  • Anxiety and sleep that has gone ragged under constant decision load. See anxiety treatment.
  • Depression and burnout that looks like irritability, withdrawal or a loss of interest in work that used to matter.
  • Marriage and family strain, including family sessions by secure video when a spouse or adult child wants to be part of the process.
  • Transitions: a sale, a succession, a public setback, a sudden change in wealth. See therapy for sudden wealth and inheritance.

How is care scheduled around board meetings and travel?

Most clients take part in 3 to 5 hours a week, booked with you. Sessions can be split across days and moved when a week shifts. Our hours are Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, with some Saturday therapy appointments; tell us on the first call what your calendar actually looks like.

Video sessions are for times you are located in California. If you travel out of state often, raise it on the first call so we can plan around it honestly rather than discover the gap mid-week. Clients based near our office can mix video with sessions at 12326 Venice Blvd in Los Angeles; everyone else works with us by video. We do not have executive offices or satellite locations elsewhere in California.

What is available by video?

  • By secure video, for clients located in California: individual therapy, psychoeducation on emotional regulation, relationships and relapse prevention, family sessions, and coaching and case management.
  • Psychiatric care: can be arranged; we explain how when you call.
  • In our Los Angeles office only: Brainspotting, TMS and neuropsychological testing.

For a full account of how the program runs by video, see our virtual outpatient program page. For weekly therapy without the program, see telehealth therapy in California.

Who else is involved, and who is told?

You decide. Family members join sessions only if you want them to. If an advisor, attorney, trustee or family office is helping you start care, we share information with them only with your written permission, as allowed by law, and only what you agree to share. Professionals who refer clients to us can read more on our For Professionals page.

How does payment work?

The program is private pay. We do not take or bill insurance, and we provide superbills for reimbursable services if you want to seek out-of-network reimbursement from your plan. See fees and insurance and our private pay guide. We go over fees by phone.

When is more than outpatient care needed?

Some situations call for a higher level of care: heavy daily drinking where stopping could bring dangerous withdrawal, which the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism warns can include seizures (NIAAA); thoughts of suicide; or a pattern that keeps worsening despite outpatient care. We will tell you plainly if we think that is where you are. If you are in crisis now, call or text 988.

No. There are no groups. Sessions are one-on-one with your care team, plus family sessions if you choose.

Yes. Sessions are booked with you, Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, and some Saturday therapy appointments are available. Sessions can move when your week changes.
