Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. Video sessions for the California side of Tahoe.
What does Blackburn offer Tahoe and Truckee clients?
- Online only here: we do not have an office in Truckee or anywhere in the Tahoe basin; care is by secure video. Our one office, in Mar Vista, is about 380 miles from Truckee and 352 from South Lake Tahoe in a straight line.
- Individual therapy for anxiety, depression, burnout, grief and substance use.
- Concierge Outpatient Program: usually 3 to 5 hours a week of one-on-one care. By video it includes therapy, psychoeducation, coaching and case management.
- Psychiatric care can be arranged.
Why does the state line matter for video therapy at Tahoe?
Lake Tahoe sits across two states. We can see you only when you are physically in California at the time of the session. That is simple in Truckee, Tahoe City or Meyers, but it catches people who live in South Lake Tahoe and work a few blocks away in Stateline, Nevada, or who split time with Incline Village or Crystal Bay. Plan sessions for when you are on the California side, at home or in a parked car before you cross.
| Where you are during the session | Can we meet by video? |
|---|---|
| Truckee, Tahoe City, Kings Beach, Tahoe Vista | Yes, California |
| South Lake Tahoe, Meyers | Yes, California |
| Stateline, Incline Village, Crystal Bay | No, Nevada |
| Reno or Carson City | No, Nevada |
How do seasons and isolation shape mental health in the mountains?
Tahoe life runs on seasons. Ski winters bring long shifts for lift crews, instructors, patrollers, restaurant and hotel staff, then a sudden drop in work and income in the spring and fall shoulder seasons. Storms close Interstate 80 over Donner Summit and Highway 50 over Echo Summit, days are short, and the people who live here year round can go weeks without seeing anyone outside work. Resort-town culture often treats heavy drinking as normal, which makes it hard to tell when it has become a problem. Workforce housing is scarce, so many people double up in rentals or move every season.
Fire is part of the story too. In August 2021 the Caldor Fire forced the evacuation of all of South Lake Tahoe, and smoke from fires elsewhere fills the basin most summers. Second-home owners, retirees and remote workers who moved up during the pandemic bring their own version: beautiful views, few close friends, and a spouse who is the only person they talk to. Our depression and alcohol use pages explain how we approach these.
Which county services cover your part of the lake?
Three California counties share the region. Truckee had about 16,891 residents on January 1, 2026, in a Nevada County of about 99,983; South Lake Tahoe had about 21,472 in an El Dorado County of about 189,852; and Placer County, which includes Tahoe City and Kings Beach, had about 434,823, per the California Department of Finance.
- Truckee (Nevada County): Behavioral Health at 530-265-1437 or toll free 888-801-1437; the after-hours 24-hour crisis line is 530-265-5811 (Nevada County).
- South Lake Tahoe (El Dorado County): 24/7 toll-free access at 1-800-929-1955; the South Lake Tahoe clinic is at 1900 Lake Tahoe Blvd (El Dorado County Behavioral Health).
- North and West Shore (Placer County): 24-hour crisis and intake line at 1-888-886-5401 (Placer County).
Is weekly therapy enough, or do you need more?
Weekly therapy fits most people. The Concierge Outpatient Program suits a winter when drinking has taken over, a return from residential treatment, or anyone who would have to drive to Reno or Sacramento for a group IOP and lose a job doing it. It is an alternative to IOP, not an IOP. See our virtual outpatient program and telehealth therapy pages.
When are sessions and how do you pay?
Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, with some Saturday therapy appointments; ski staff often book a morning off or an evening-shift lunch. We are private pay, do not bill insurance, and provide superbills for reimbursable services. See private pay therapy and fees.

No. We do not have an office in Truckee or the Tahoe basin; care is by secure video. Our only office is in Los Angeles.
I live in South Lake Tahoe but work in Stateline. Can I do sessions from work?
Not from Stateline, because that is Nevada. Take sessions from home or anywhere on the California side.
Can seasonal ski workers fit in therapy?
Yes. Sessions run Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, and some Saturday therapy appointments are available, so many people book around shifts.
Is the Concierge Outpatient Program a group program?
No. It is entirely one-on-one, typically 3 to 5 hours a week, and is an alternative to IOP.
Can psychiatric care be arranged for Tahoe clients?
Psychiatric care can be arranged and coordinated with your therapist. We explain how when you call.
What if a storm knocks out my internet?
Use your phone if you can, or call us and we reschedule. Winter outages happen and we plan around them.
