Starting by video, or getting here from Downtown Los Angeles
By video: for people who live or work downtown, a video session at lunch or between meetings is often the easiest way to stay consistent. You join from a private room at home or a booked office.
By car: the I-10 (Santa Monica Fwy) runs west from downtown toward the Westside, and Venice Blvd is the surface street alternative that ends near our block. Try the trip once at your usual hour; rush hour on the I-10 can be slow.

Downtown Los Angeles: local context and resources
Downtown Los Angeles is the business, government and arts center of the county, with a growing high-rise residential population and many young professionals. Downtown Los Angeles is not a Census place, so we do not quote a population. For county mental health services it is in Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health Service Area 4 (LA County DMH), and the county Department of Public Health lists Downtown LA and Central City in SPA 4, Metropolitan Los Angeles (LA County Public Health). The county lists an outpatient Downtown Mental Health Center at 529 Maple Ave (LA County locator).
People who live downtown often moved for work and are building a life without family nearby. What they bring to therapy tends to follow from that: long hours in law, finance and government, burnout, trouble switching off, loneliness in a new city, relationship strain, and drinking that has crept up during busy seasons. Graduate students and early career professionals juggling exams and work also call us.

- Young adults and college students. When clinically appropriate, we provide leave of absence and return letters.
- Families working with a trustee. With written permission, we can share attendance and general progress.
In the office or by video: which fits you
Video usually fits Downtown Los Angeles residents with full workdays, since a session can happen from a private office or home without crossing the city. The Mar Vista office fits Brainspotting, which is office only, and people who want to step away from downtown for an hour; the E Line makes that realistic. Career coaching works either way.
