What is it like to address drinking when alcohol is the local industry?
In Napa and Sonoma, wine is not just something people drink. It is payroll, tourism, family land and the reason many people moved here. Winemakers, cellar crews, tasting room staff, chefs, sommeliers and hospitality managers often taste or pour as part of the job. That makes it hard to notice when drinking has changed from work to need, and harder to talk about without feeling disloyal to the place.
We hear from people in the industry and from those around it: a spouse worried about nightly bottles, a manager who drinks to sleep after a 14-hour service, someone in recovery who still works in a tasting room. The Concierge Outpatient Program was built for exactly this kind of person: one-on-one, no groups where you might see a colleague, and scheduled so you keep working. Our alcohol use and dual diagnosis pages explain the clinical side.
How does harvest season change what people need?
Harvest, usually late summer into fall, compresses a year of work into weeks: early picks, long crush days, no weekends. Sleep goes, tempers shorten, and drinking often rises. The pattern repeats from Calistoga down to American Canyon and across the Mayacamas from Healdsburg to the Carneros. Winter brings the reverse, with slower tourism and, for some, too much quiet.
| Season | What we often hear | How care adapts |
|---|---|---|
| Harvest and crush | Exhaustion, irritability, more drinking | Shorter, steady sessions; a plan for the season |
| Fire season | Evacuation fear, poor sleep, old trauma returning | Focus on safety plans and sleep |
| Winter slow season | Low mood, money worries, isolation | More hours if needed through the program |
Why does fire season still weigh on Napa and Sonoma?
The October 2017 fires burned neighborhoods in Santa Rosa, including Coffey Park, and parts of Napa County, and the 2020 Glass Fire returned to the hills above St. Helena and Calistoga. Many residents rebuilt, moved, or still wake up at the smell of smoke. Red flag warnings and power shutoffs can reopen all of it. If that sounds familiar, our trauma and PTSD page describes how we work.
What public behavioral health lines serve Napa and Sonoma?
Napa County had about 136,374 residents on January 1, 2026, with about 77,803 in the city of Napa, and Sonoma County about 484,022, with about 179,798 in Santa Rosa, according to the California Department of Finance.

When are sessions, and how is care paid for?
Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, with some Saturday therapy appointments. Hospitality workers often take a late-morning session before service. Be in California at session time. We are private pay and do not bill insurance; reimbursable services come with superbills for out-of-network claims. See the private pay FAQ, plus our virtual outpatient program and telehealth therapy hubs.
